A fair and transparent academic environment

All students of the College are expected to familiarise themselves with the academic rules and regulations. These rules are designed to uphold the quality, fairness and integrity of academic life on campus, and they apply to every student admitted to the College.

Leave & Withdrawal Rules

College Leave Rules

Students should apply for leave on a prescribed form. Leave approval up to 10 days is granted by the Principal.

Names of students remaining absent from College for 6 consecutive days, without prior permission, will be struck off from the College Rolls. A re-admission fee of Rs. 1,500/- shall be charged for re-admission.

Rules for Withdrawal

  1. Students leaving the College must inform the Principal in writing. He / she must tender an application duly signed by him / her and counter-signed by his / her parent / authorised guardian. Until a student's name is formally withdrawn, he / she is liable to pay all College dues and fines levied.
  2. No certificate / no refund of fees is permissible to those leaving the College without permission.
  3. No certificate of any kind shall be issued to students unless the arrears of fine, hostel or College dues, or library book fines are cleared.
Section 2

Anti-Ragging Rules Ragging is Banned

Students are required to submit an Anti-Ragging Affidavit at the time of admission, in compliance with UGC and Hon'ble Supreme Court directives. The College has zero tolerance for any form of ragging on campus, in hostels, in transport, or off-campus.

Punishable Offences

The following acts, individually or in combination, constitute punishable offences under the College's anti-ragging policy:

  • Abetment to ragging
  • Criminal conspiracy to rag
  • Unlawful assembly and rioting while ragging
  • Public nuisance created during ragging
  • Violation of decency and morals through ragging
  • Injury to body, causing hurt or grievous hurt
  • Wrongful restraint or wrongful confinement
  • Use of criminal force
  • Assault as well as sexual offences or unnatural offences
  • Extortion or criminal trespass
  • Offences against property
  • Criminal intimidation and attempts to commit any or all of the above-mentioned offences against the victim(s)
  • Physical or psychological humiliation
  • All other offences that follow from the definition of "Ragging"

Punishments

Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as established by the Anti-Ragging Committee of the institution, the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging shall be any one or any combination of the following:

  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges
  • Withholding / withdrawing scholarship / fellowship and other benefits
  • Debarring from appearing in any test / examination or other evaluation process
  • Withholding results
  • Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
  • Suspension / expulsion from the hostel
  • Cancellation of admission
  • Rustication from the institution for a period ranging from I to IV semesters
  • Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period
  • Heavy fine
  • Collective Punishment: When the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment

Examination Rules

Rules for Mid-Semester Examinations

  1. The College will conduct one mandatory House Test in each semester in theory papers — one in the month of September and the other in February. There will be one paper on each subject of one hour duration.
  2. The Internal Assessment of students will be based on these House Tests as per PU guidelines.
  3. If absent from the house tests:
    1. Absence from these examinations on any ground will be treated as failure with nil marks.
    2. Students absenting themselves from the House Tests without leave will be fined as per rules.
  4. The students caught using unfair means during house tests will be ineligible for taking semester examinations.
  5. Use of mobiles is banned during exams and a fine of INR 500/- will be imposed if found guilty.

Rules for Eligibility to Appear in University Exams

  1. A candidate will have to attend 75% of the full course of lectures, tutorials, seminars and practical (if applicable) arranged for the class in each subject offered (to be counted from the last date of admission up to the date when classes break up for preparatory holidays).
  2. A candidate has to obtain 25% marks in the aggregate of all subjects in the two House Tests.
  3. A candidate has to obtain minimum marks as per the latest PU Chandigarh rules in the discretionary test, if held.
  4. The onus of timely submission of the University Examination Form along with the required examination fee with the College office shall be on the student.
Important: The final authority on all academic matters rests with Panjab University and the College administration. In case of any ambiguity, the rules notified by Lalit Narayan Mithila University, prevail.
