About the Cell

A safe, ragging-free campus is the right of every student — protected by law, policy, and the Cell.

An Anti Ragging Cell has been formed in the College following the recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee and the Supreme Court Judgment on the ragging of students in educational institutions. The Cell ensures strict implementation of anti-ragging norms and provides a confidential channel for affected students to report incidents.

Ragging is a punishable offence. Any student found involved in any form of ragging — physical, psychological, or online — faces strict disciplinary, academic and legal consequences as per UGC regulations and Indian law.

Punishable Offences

Abetment to ragging

Criminal conspiracy to rag

Unlawful assembly and rioting while ragging

Public nuisance created during ragging

Violation of decency and morals through ragging

Injury to body, causing hurt or grievous hurt

Wrongful restraint or wrongful confinement

Use of criminal force

Assault as well as sexual offences or unnatural offences

Extortion or criminal trespass

Offences against property

Criminal intimidation and attempts to commit any of the above

Physical or psychological humiliation

All other offences that follow from the definition of "Ragging"

Punishments

Disciplinary & Legal Consequences

Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges

Withholding / withdrawing scholarship, fellowship and other benefits

Debarring from appearing in any test, examination or other evaluation process

Withholding of results

Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament or youth festival

Suspension or expulsion from the hostel

Cancellation of admission

Rustication from the institution for I–IV semesters

Expulsion from the institution and debarring from admission elsewhere for a specified period

Heavy fine; rigorous imprisonment up to 3 years

Collective punishment when individuals committing or abetting ragging are not identified
